Renée Zellweger, the Oscar-winning actress, is set to star in and produce the psychological thriller 'Phantom Son', directed by David Yates and financed by AGC Studios. The film centers on a young runaway, Ronnie, who is taken in by a lonely woman named Audrey, whose own son was kidnapped two decades ago. As Audrey becomes convinced that Ronnie is her long-lost son, a twisted game of cat and mouse unfolds, blurring the lines between deception and delusion. Zellweger and Carmella Casinelli developed the thriller under their Big Picture Co. banner, with Yates directing from a screenplay by Ian Scott McCullough. AGC Studios joined as a producing partner, and additional casting is underway for an early 2026 production start date. The film promises to connect on a broad scale with rich, character-driven storytelling, and Zellweger and Casinelli expressed their excitement about working with an extraordinary team, including Yates and AGC as their partner. Yates has directed the final four 'Harry Potter' films, 'The Legend of Tarzan', and the 'Fantastic Beasts' trilogy. Zellweger's credits include 'Judy', 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy', 'Cold Mountain', and 'Chicago'. AGC International and CAA Media Finance will represent worldwide rights and launch sales at the American Film Market next week.
